Established in 1986 , the Fort Hare Foundation Trust (TM 1120) is entrusted with resource mobilisation for the University of Fort Hare.

It is registered with SARS as a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO Registration Number 130000987), and therefore it issues Section 18A Certificates for qualifying donations.

The sole beneficiary of the Fort Hare Foundation Trust is the University of Fort Hare. It  operates independently under the leadership of a Board of Trustees. It prides itself  with  effective corporate governance  and efficient systems.
